Talk:Black match

IsnĀ“t the cotton string pre-impregnated with potassium nitrate solution in order to achieve better ignition and steady burning?

This can be done I suppose, but it is definitely not needed... For steady burning use time fuse or good visco...

A nitrate impregmentation would be more suitable for a quickmatch and less a slower blackmatch since the unnitrated cotton would leave more dross. The dross helping pass fire easier.--Sevenoneone 05:18, 18 August 2007 (EST)

I couldnt find dextrin and used 10% methyl cellulose (pelleting adhesive for innoculating legumes ,rural store.Wallpaper paste?)Required two coats to work. Sizing is done thru conical lid of hair colour bottle, about 2.5mm opening and second coat lid 2.8mm opening.I believe ? conical shape more forceful. String will not impregnate properly without alcohol(i use methylated spirts 96% ethanol) Dont goof around with short string, find 2 posts with line of sight,3 nails in each, string top to top, down a nail and across again etc.Lay string in bowl of compo mix with regard to natural twist, knots otherwise, dunk.Pull through lid, tie to nails, blah blah blah.

--Aperaltaa 07:45, 22 December 2010 (EST) Hello. Good work ! ;-)

How to graduate the time of this fuse called Black Match ?... If I change the diameter of the cord, the burning time decrease ?. Please, explain me. Thanx
